Local Indigenous Culture
Join Ranger Kendra to learn about local Native American ways of life throughout history and listen to some stories about indigenous culture.
On Thursday, October 10th at 3:30 PM, the Ossipee Public Library will host Interpretive Ranger, Kendra Dean. Ms. Dean will be presenting an educational program on local indigenous culture. This program on local indigenous culture will describe the life of the hunter-gatherer societies that existed in New England before the colonial era throughout the seasons and present a few stories that have been passed down through generations that explain some of their cultural values.
Kendra Dean is currently working as an Interpretive Ranger for the Student Conservation Association (SCA) in partnership with New Hampshire State Parks. SCA's mission is "to build the next generation of conservation leaders and inspire lifelong stewardship of the environment and communities by engaging young people through hands-on service projects." As a SCA member, Ms. Dean has been working in cooperation with White Lake State Park to provide educational activities through a program called Discover the Power of Parks, with the related mission of connecting people to the natural and cultural heritage of the local area and New Hampshire.
