October is Family History Month. Here at the Ossipee Public Library, we are celebrating this by launching our new digital collections website: https://ossipeelibrary.omeka.net/. This collection will include many historical and genealogical documents which may be of interest to anyone with ties to the Ossipee, NH area.
The core of these collections were researched and created by long-time Ossipee resident and former library employee, Frank Fisher. In Mr. Fisher’s own words,” I started working on family histories when I was president of the Historical Society. I felt that the town needed to know their roots, as it were. I started with the town’s 1790 census and went from there.”
The research and documentation of these records have been supplemented by other library employees and dedicated volunteers, over the years. This work is ongoing and the digital collections will be added to on a regular basis, so check back frequently!
