A hearty February hello to you! It is assumed that a forest dweller like myself is lonely or ‘out of touch’. But that is far from the truth.I have many forest friends including Yeti. Yeti lives in the snowy Himalayan mountain range which is over 7,000 miles away. Even though we have a long distance friendship we still keep in touch. Sometimes, I will visit Yeti and sometimes Yeti will visit me. When Yeti visits New Hampshire, it must be the snowiest time of year to make sure Yeti blends in and can stay at a comfortable temperature, which is very cold. Many humans celebrate friendships, love and romance on Valentine’s Day. For me, I always enjoy a good book about friendships especially, unlikely friendships, like me and Yeti. In honor of unlikely friendships, I decided to read Guardians of the Valley : John Muir and the friendship that saved Yosemite by Dean King. It tells the story of John Muir and his unlikely friendship with magazine editor Robert Underwood Johnson which ultimately leads to the creation of Yosemite National Park and the beginning of the American conservation movement. If you’re interested in land conservation efforts or just interested in history this book can be found at the Ossipee Public Library. Be sure to tell the helpful
librarians that the Ossipee Sasquatch sent ya and receive a special bookmark!
